Why Boot Camp Works for Test Prep
Boot Camp isn’t just a fun name—it’s a purposeful, classroom-tested strategy designed to make review feel more like a challenge and less like a chore. Here’s why it works:
- Targeted skill practice: Each station focuses on one key concept, helping students build mastery without overwhelm.
- Built-in movement: Short physical activities between stations keep energy high and attention focused.
- Student ownership: The included tracker allows students to monitor their own progress as they rotate through the stations.
- Variety of question types: Task cards include both multiple-choice and open-ended problems, helping students practice in testing formats.
Whether you use it over a week of review, spread it out by standard, or break it up into small group rotations, the Boot Camp format is flexible enough to fit your classroom routine.

How I Use It in the Classroom
During our Boot Camp week, I turn the classroom into a camo-themed training zone. Students rotate through stations in teams or pairs, spending about 8–10 minutes at each one. After each round, we do a quick movement break (jumping jacks, stretches, etc.) before transitioning to the next task.
By the end of the week, every student has reviewed every major standard—and they’ve had fun doing it.
Don’t want to do a full transformation? No problem. Many teachers use the stations throughout the year as:
- Spiral review
- Intervention groups
- Center rotations
- Homework or sub plans
- Independent test prep
