What Are Back to School Math Puzzles?
These are low-prep, self-directed math activities designed for the first weeks of school. Each puzzle keeps students thinking mathematically without needing teacher support to get started. They work at their own pace, stay engaged, and you get a few minutes to breathe.

Math Pattern Search
Students find 12 hidden picture patterns in a grid. Patterns run left to right only, which keeps it challenging without being frustrating. Great for building focus and attention to detail right at the start of the year.
Picture Puzzles
Each picture represents an unknown value. Students use the equations to figure out what each picture is worth, then solve a final equation at the bottom. Four levels of difficulty are included on the same page, so every student in your class has an entry point.
Number Mazes
Students navigate a grid from start to finish by moving only through even numbers in one maze and odd numbers in the other. Up, down, left, right only. Simple rules, solid number sense practice.
All three pages are completely self-directed. Students need zero introduction to get started.
