How to Find Time for TPT (Even When You’re Crazy Busy!)
Ever feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day? Between teaching, grading, family life, and maybe even trying to squeeze in a little self-care, adding TPT into the mix can feel overwhelming. But here’s the thing—growing your TPT store doesn’t have to take over your life.
In this episode of TPT Chats, Malia and I tackled one of the biggest struggles for sellers: finding time for TPT when you already have a million other things on your plate. And we’ve got some simple, realistic time saving tips to help you work smarter, not harder.
1. Batch Your Work Like a Pro (#1 Time Saving Tip!)
Think about all the steps that go into creating a TPT resource—planning, designing, writing descriptions, and preview creation. Instead of jumping between tasks, try batching similar tasks together.
- Example: If you’re making math task cards, set aside time to create multiple sets at once rather than switching between different types of resources.
- Why it works: Your brain stays in the same workflow, so you get things done faster and with fewer distractions.
2. Set a Weekly TPT Schedule
You don’t need hours of uninterrupted time to make progress on your store. Instead, schedule small, focused work sessions into your week.
- Maybe Mondays are for brainstorming new products.
- Wednesdays are for designing in PowerPoint.
- Saturdays are for uploading and writing product descriptions.
Even 30 minutes a day can add up to a fully finished product by the end of the week!
3. Use Templates to Speed Up Creation
Recreating the same elements over and over? Stop! Save yourself time by using:
- PowerPoint templates for worksheets
- Product description templates (copy + tweak = done!)
- Pre-made thumbnail and preview templates
Once you have a system in place, every new product gets easier and faster to create.
4. Prioritize the Tasks That Matter Most
Let’s be real—there’s always something you could be doing for your TPT store. But not every task is urgent. Instead of trying to do it all, focus on:
- Creating new products (this is what actually makes you money!)
- Updating older products for quick wins
- Writing SEO-friendly descriptions to help buyers find your resources
Everything else? It can wait.
5. Give Yourself Grace
At the end of the day, building a TPT business is a long game. Some weeks will be busier than others, and that’s okay! Progress—even slow progress—is still progress.
So if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just trying to figure out where TPT fits into your life, remember: You’ve got this! A little planning and a few time-saving strategies can go a long way.
