Alright, teachers, let’s get real for a second. There is nothing worse than grading a stack of papers and realizing there are tons in the pile that DON’T HAVE NAMES ON THEM! I was so tired of trying to decipher handwriting or guessing at which paper goes to which student. So, I decided to change up my routine.
Highlighters. It’s SO simple, you’ll wonder why you haven’t been using them all along!
This is the set-up for my student to hand in their papers. I have been using this system for YEARS and it works like a charm!
Here’s the deal:
I keep a basket of highlighters by the “turn-in bin.” Before those papers disappear into the grading abyss, students have to highlight their name. It’s a quick reminder, and catches most of the forgetful students before they become nameless paper culprits.
But wait, there’s more!
Because you know me, I had to take it a step further. I assigned each class a specific highlighter color. Now, this system doesn’t just help with “no-name” papers, it also helps me keep the graded papers organized by class just by looking at the color highlighter!
So, ditch the nameless paper frustration, grab some highlighters, and give this simple system a try!
