Tired of YouTube Pop-Ups Disrupting Your Class? Here’s How to Stop Them!
Hey teachers! We all know the struggle. You’ve carefully curated the perfect educational video for your class, only to have it interrupted by a loud ad or a distracting recommendation list. Those pop-ups can throw off the flow of your lesson and leave students confused.
But fear not! Here are two easy ways to keep those pop-ups at bay and ensure a smooth learning experience:
Trick #1: _popup
This hack involves a slight modification of the YouTube video URL. Here’s how it works:
- Open the YouTube video you want to show your class.
- Click the URL from the address bar at the top of your browser.
- Look for the part of the URL that says “watch?”
- Right after “watch” and before the question mark (?), add an underscore and the word popup like this _popup.
- Hit enter!
Voila! You’ll be redirected to the same video, but without any pop-up ads or recommended videos. It’s a clean and distraction-free viewing experience for you and your students.
Trick #2: The Hyphen
Here’s another simple URL trick:
- Follow steps 1 and 2 from Trick #1, clicking the YouTube video URL.
- Find the word “tube” in the URL.
- Between the “t” and the “u”, insert a hyphen (-).
- Hit enter!
This method also bypasses pop-ups and recommended videos, giving you a clean and focused presentation of the chosen video.
