100 Lottery Review: A Fun and Engaging Whole-Class Math Game

If you’ve ever tried to review math with your whole class and felt like only half of them were paying attention, this is a game you’ll want to try. The 100 Lottery Review is my favorite way to get students moving, solving, and actually excited about review work. It works for test prep, unit review, before-break energy, or anytime your class needs engagement and accountability at the same time.

What Is the 100 Lottery Review?

This activity is a whole-class math review game that mixes problem solving, movement, and a little bit of luck. Students solve a math problem, bring it to you to check, and if it’s correct, they get to write their name on any open number on a 100 chart. At the end of the game, you pick a few numbers. If a student’s name is on one of those numbers, they win.

It is simple. It is low prep. And it works with almost any math skill.

What You Need

How to Play

Step 1: Set Up
Post your math problems around the room or hand them out on a worksheet. Display or print a 100 chart.

Step 2: Explain the Rules

Step 3: Let Them Work
Students move, solve, check, and repeat. They can work with a partner if you allow it.

Step 4: Draw the Winning Numbers
At the end of the review, use a random number generator to call 5 to 10 numbers. If a student has their name on that number, they win a prize.

Why It Works So Well

✔ Students care about getting answers right because there is a goal at the end.
✔ They move around the room, which helps with focus and energy.
✔ You can quickly see who understands the skill and who does not.
✔ It works with any math content and almost no prep.
✔ Students who usually “check out” suddenly stay in the game.

By incorporating the 100 Game Review into your classroom, you can create a fun and effective learning experience that helps students solidify their understanding of key concepts.
